Room Parent volunteers assist teachers in a multitude of ways including organizing classroom parties, setting up GiftCrowds, and performing other tasks the teacher may need.
Help create the MES yearbook filled with pictures of students and staff. Throughout the course of the year, this involves taking or collecting photos from each class, managing layout and design and helping with distribution.
Help coordinate meals for teachers during Parent-Teacher Conferences as well as other "meals" to support teachers and staff throughout the school year.
Cafeteria Duty/Lunch Room volunteers help monitor students during their lunch period, help students open their lunches, if needed, and help clean/wipe tables.
MES hosts a monthly Vegetable Tasting Tuesday during lunch throughout the school year. This program introduces a "mystery" vegetable sample for all the students to try. Volunteers assist in putting together samples and passing them out for students to try.
Changing Hands is a twice a year children's consignment sale hosted by MES PTO that occurs in the cafeteria/gym. This is the biggest fundraiser for MES with 70% going to consignors and 30% going to PTO. Typically, volunteers are needed to help organize, publicize, coordinate consignors and items as well as volunteer during the day of the sale.
Got Art? is a week long MES student focused art event in May. Got Art? supplements the school art education program by introducing MES students to a variety of art forms and artists. Activities may include guest performers, workshops, field trips and hands-on experiences. Art background is not necessary to volunteer.
Coordinate a day visit from COSI or Cincinnati Museum Center for the students at MES. Provide set up/clean up and support throughout the event.
Plan and execute a week filled with showering our teachers and staff with love and appreciation. Teacher Appreciation Week typically occurs the first week of May.
